June 1st Marks the Official Start of the 2020 Hurricane Season

The 2020 hurricane season officially kicked off on June 1st but it's already been a very active season. There have already been two named storms and a third could potentially be forming in the southern Gulf of Mexico.


This year's hurricane season is going to be a little different due to the threat of COVID-19. It's recommended that as residents build their hurricane disaster kits, they include a mask and hand sanitizer. These items will help add a layer of protection should a they need to go to a shelter or evacuate.
