During the COVID-19 pandemic, in-person senior meals and activities have been cancelled but the Galveston County Parks and Cultural Services team has been busy making sure the seniors in the County’s program are still receiving services.
Over the past two months, the Senior Services team has delivered 5,400+ meals to nearly 400 seniors around the Galveston County community. The deliveries have also included activities to help keep seniors active at home since they are unable to congregate at their senior centers.
Last week in preparation for hurricane season, the Senior Services team delivered an additional 880 shelf stable “Hurricane Boxes” that seniors will be able to use in the event a storm impacts the region.
