Galveston County Economic Development Unveils Promotional Video

A new marketing piece by Galveston County’s Economic Development Department aims to attract new industry to the area by focusing on an outstanding quality of life and ample business opportunity.

The video is a compilation of Galveston County’s many attributes that might appeal to businesses looking for a new location in areas such as workforce, education, transportation, infrastructure and an abundance of shovel-ready sites.

Economic Development Director C.B. “Bix” Rathburn said the trick was to show as much of what Galveston County has to offer from each of its communities in only a minute and a half.

“We truly are ‘a place where a vibrant past combines with a diverse present to cultivate a bright future,’” Rathburn said, quoting the video. “So much of that has to do with our top schools, medical care, abundant land and pro-business environment.”

Feedback from the Galveston County Commissioners Court has been positive.

“Videos are a valuable marketing tool in the economic development world,” County Judge Mark Henry said. “This video manages to be stimulating, informative and unique. I think we have an outstanding marketing tool.”

Although the video’s target audience was site location consultants and executives looking to bring their business to Galveston County, Henry said the way the county is showcased in the video benefits everyone.

“I’m looking forward to showing this video when I’m out in the community giving updates on what the county is doing,” Henry said. “It really just shows how and why our county is the best.”

The video will be the centerpiece of a new Galveston County Economic Development website designed to enhance business recruitment, retention and expansion for Galveston County. The new website will be released at the end of Spring 2017. Bella Vista Productions produced the video.
